Confession

I gotta confess that it turns me on to see bloggers and blog readers spitting at each other in many of the recent blog comments...

Some will take it a step further. They will go to the extent of rebutting in their own blog entries.

Wei, bring it on and keep it going! Go on and amuse me! Entertain me! I am having hell of a good time reading all the comments, yo! Make my day while I read your comments and rebuttals.

Common sense

I have some very dungu colleagues in the opis. One of them always have to call out my name when he has something to pass me. Do you know how irritating is it when you are concentrating on your work especially the detail stuff and then someone simply calls out your name just to pass you a freakin piece of paper? For goodness sake, just leave it in the in-tray. That's what they are for, you dumb ass.

Then hor, there's another guy from the prestigious UM. I cannot paham a freakin England word this fella says. One of these days, I should CnP one of his emails to show you when I mean. This chap lacks courtesy. When 2 persons are discussing some work related matter, this fella just jumps right in the middle and asks about his issues. What the...?

Makes me wanna vomit just thinking I have to work along side such people. I am disturbed by their lack of common sense. Ptui!

I work too, you know?

So, I was in NY the other week and let me tell you it was all work, work and more work.

Over 20 hours in the air from Penang transitting in Singapore, Frankfurt and then finally landing in JFK in Queens. I flew by SQ. The flight was full and I couldn't even get an aisle seat for the long haul flights. The flight to NY was uneventful. I was pretty much stoned throughout and managed several quick naps.

Upon arrival in Frankfurt, all passengers continuing their journey to NY had to disembark the aircraft for the so-called security checks. Everyone had to get off the plane with all the hand carry bags and re-checked in for a one and a half hour security check before flying to United States.

After another 9 hours of flying, I finally reached JFK. Cleared immigration without a problem and collected my baggage.

At the arrival gate, as expected, a limo was waiting for me. The limo service was arranged by the NY office. Chatted with the driver who is from Hong Kong but emigrated to the States for nearly 10 years.

Traffic was pretty smooth as it was Sunday when I arrived. It took about 30 minutes from JFK to mid town Manhattan. Checked into The Roosevelt Hotel, dropped my bags and immediately off I went exploring NY.

Let me tell you. Hotels in Malaysia are better. At least you get complimentary drinks, welcome drinks or cocktails after checking in or a bottle of mineral water in the room. Here, a bottle of mineral water from the hotel is like US$9. Anyway... what the heck, "ah kong" paid for the US$210 per night hotel for me so I had to pay a little for my own food and drinks lah from "ah kong's" allowance :)

First destination, Times Square. 15 minutes walk from the hotel. The weather was just like home. Hot, humid. Passed by 5th Avenue on the way to Times Square. Loitered around for a hour or so and then headed back to hotel. By then, jet lag started to set in.

Had very light snack for dinner and slept like a baby and got up at 6am the next morning.

Met Tara at the lobby on Monday and went to her office. From then onwards, it was all work... Nyah... who would wanna read this?

Hot Dog and Shooting

My first meal in NY was a street hot dog right in the middle of Times Square.
2 bucks for a hot dog from a street vendor with plenty of mustard.

On the left is the famous MTV studio in Times Sq.

The MTV Studio. There was a team of tv crew shooting some movie right in front of the studio that day. The guy with the umbrella is the actor. Can you make out which famous actor is he?

Okay, here's a closer picture...

Looks like... hmm... I dunno!?

Baseball

Americans love baseball. So I decided to go for a baseball game. It was the Mets playing the Reds. Before I knew it, I was at The Shea Stadium in Flushing, Queens. Yes, Flushing is where they have the US open grand slam tennis and The Shea Stadium is just next to Flushing Meadows.

The weather was just perfect for a baseball game.

The scoreboard. Notice the NY city skyline at the top? Check out the ribbon they put up where the World Trade Center used to stand.

It was 7 ish and the seats were still not filled. Over 30,000 spectators watched the game although the stadium could cater for more crowd.

Strike one, strike two, ball one, ball two... whatever. At the end of the night, the Mets kicked the Red's ass. That is what's important.

Times Square

This is where I headed after dumping my damaged luggage at the hotel. Yea, the 40 kg luggage arrived in the same flight but it was not the same when I checked it in.

Times Square, New York. Where The Avenues of Americas and Broadway meet. Where they drop the ball every New Year's Eve. Where David Blaine got frozen in time.

The NYPD cop told me, you can't miss it!
